QSSI Wins the HHS Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) Health Insurance Exchange Support Contract
Columbia, MD — January 20, 2011 –Maryland based QSSI, announced today that it has been recently awarded a prime contract from the Department of Health & Human Service (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for the Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) to support various tasks related to requirements, architecture, design, and development of insurance exchanges as mandated by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). CCIIO is responsible for structuring communications networks and technology infrastructures that will both facilitate and regulate the delivery of healthcare insurance for select population groups.
Within CCIIO, the Office of Health Insurance Exchanges (OHIE) will be focused on working with the States to create new marketplaces, or "Exchanges", where individuals and small businesses can learn about health plans, compare prices, and ultimately make selections. These entities will require robust information systems that can seamlessly compare and transmit data, offer a dynamic user interface, provide timely customer service, and function within a set of detailed business standards. QSSI will provide the project support as CCIIO moves through each of the lifecycle stages required to implement the Health Insurance Exchange program.
Health Insurance Exchanges
Starting in 2014, improved choices will be offered through Health Insurance Exchanges' new, competitive, state-run, and consumer-centered health insurance marketplaces. The Exchanges will make purchasing health insurance easier with "one-stop-shopping," where consumers can compare and purchase health insurance coverage.
