QSSI Awarded Prime Contract from CMS for Personal Health Record (PHR) Pilot for Fee-For-Service Beneficiaries

Gaithersburg, MD – September 19 , 2007 – The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has selected QSSI as the prime contractor for a Pilot project to develop a Personal Health Record for Medicare Fee-For-Service Beneficiaries in the State of South Carolina.

A rapidly growing small business and proven CMS partner, QSSI has been able to leverage our proven project management, technical capabilities and outreach expertise in support of this Pilot Project. The QSSI team will utilize HeatlhTrio’s industry-leading Personal Health Tool and leverage Palmetto GBA’s expertise with CMS claims data to provide a Personal Health Record (PHR) that contains a beneficiary’s last 2 years of claims data. QSSI, as the prime contractor, will lead and coordinate the program, that includes a beneficiary PHR outreach campaign.

The Pilot program will give participating seniors a Personal Health Record they can access online that contains information about medical conditions, hospitalizations and doctor visits as part of an overall push by CMS towards a Medicare-wide adoption of electronic health records. “I am excited about this opportunity to help seniors - and their families and trusted caregivers - monitor and manage their health information by providing them with a easy-to-use and effective tool. I am confident we will exceed CMS’s expectations for this project”, said Mark Labus, QSSI’s Senior Vice President.

“This new CMS win demonstrates QSSI’s continued focus on delivering high value IT solutions to our Government customers. Projects like the PHR Pilot are key elements of our growth strategy”, said Bikram Bakshi, CEO of QSSI.

QSSI specializes in Health IT solutions, and is currently the prime contractor on several other CMS projects.
